How Francine Walton Came to Be

In the early 1990s, my husband Sam and I had a beautiful, fluffy gray kitty named Frankie.

On Friday, February 25, 1994, Frankie had to be put to sleep due to kidney failure. As the doctor administered the euthanasia, I whispered to Frankie to come see me soon.

You need to know that for about a month beforehand, I had seen a little wild tortie cat in the yard. I could tell she was homeless because she was in such bad shape, but she wouldn't let me get near her.

Back to Frankie's story. We buried him around 7:00 am the next morning (Saturday). About an hour later, that little wild tortie girl walked right up to me, crawled into my lap, and looked into my eyes as if she had always known me!

She went from being totally wild to totally tame in a split second!

When she came into the house, she knew exactly where everything was, as if she had been there before!

I knew that my Frankie had sent her to me to take care of. So I named her Francine in his honor.

When I took her to the vet, she had an upper respiratory infection, a skin disease, a broken sternum, ear mites, and worms. She was suffering from malnutrition and her tail had been bitten off!

We fixed her up and she has been my Tootie-girl ever since!
